One thing I discovered during my experience with digital photography after 20 years of shooting film, and I teach this point in all the many seminars that I’ve put on to hundreds of other full-time pros, is that digital photography is very well suited for the portrait photographer. So why are we the last to jump on the band wagon? Many commercial shooters have known about and mastered the use of digital in their business’s for far longer than the portrait photographer.
Reason kicked in before my credit card made it out of my wallet, and I did some checking for the ratings. In the commercial, there was a short line that said more serious photographers should look at the Nikon P7000, so after finding out that the S8100 was not at the top of the “users’ favs”, I headed over to the P7000 Amazon page.
Use Google’s AdWords. This is easy and relatively reasonably priced to do. AdWords are those little ads that show up on the right side of the screen when you do a Google search. Just do a Google search for “AdWords” to find the registration page.

First of all, what is clip art? There are many differing opinions out there. Some call it “ready-made art” because sometimes clip art can include photos, pictures, or complete illustrations. But, for the sake of this article, we are defining clip art to mean: All ready-made pieces of digital art, such as illustrations, borders and line drawings that are used as graphic elements in a document. They can be either raster images (jpeg, tiff, bmp, gif) or vector images (eps, wmf, ai). They can be black and white, or color.
One morning I went into Cathedral and stopped at just inside the door, deciding which way I would walk, which new golden era celeb’s resting place I wanted to put my carnations bought on the way to the cemetery. As I stood in the middle of the marble floor out of the corner of my eye I saw a person walking out of the corridor to my right. He walked into the the main corridor in front of me and up to the corridor to the left and up one hallway. I glanced over at him as he passed just noting he was wearing black pants, that were tight at the waist and loose through the legs, with a white shirt tucked into his pants neatly. He wore shinny black shoes.
Look at what else portrait photographers have been doing to their finished images besides purposely degrading the image with “softars”. We retouch the surface of the print, sometimes extensively. We canvas mount. Add texture sprays.Oils. Linen laminates…on and on.
Be sure to update your photos at least once per year. It is amazing how much a person can change, whether you notice it yourself or not. Good luck pounding the pavement for that star role!
